09/04/2010 - Orchard Park, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Former second-round pick James Hardy was among the players released by the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, as the team reduced its roster to the 53-player maximum.

Hardy, the No. 41 overall pick out of Indiana in 2008, was released after posting a disappointing 10 catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns over two injury-laden seasons with the team.

Also released were center Sean Allen, running back Andre Anderson, running back Joique Bell, quarterback Levi Brown, guard Kirk Chambers, defensive end Rashaad Duncan, fullback Rodney Ferguson, center Christian Gaddis, tight end Andrew George, tackle Nick Hennessey, wide receiver Chad Jackson, cornerback Ellis Lankster, guard Andre Ramsey, wide receiver Naaman Roosevelt, cornerback Lydell Sargeant, running back Chad Simpson, guard Jason Watkins and linebacker Donovan Woods.

Notables among that group include Chambers, who appeared in 46 games with Buffalo from 2007 through 2009; Jackson, a former second-round pick of the Patriots who was attempting to revive his career in Buffalo, and Simpson, a kickoff returner on the Indianapolis' Colts 2009 AFC Championship squad.

Also on Saturday, the Bills announced that safety Jon Corto (wrist) has been placed on Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list and tight end Derek Schouman (knee) has been waived/injured. Corto will be ineligible for the season's first five games.

The Bills will open their regular season next Sunday, when they welcome the AFC East rival Miami Dolphins to Ralph Wilson Stadium.
